living room update for the season

There is something about a new season that makes me want to give my home a little 'refresh'. I love bringing out new pillows in seasonal colors, adding a fresh throw blanket, and switching out room accessories and decor.

Our living room is probably the darkest room in the house, so I like bringing in fun pops of color with each new season, to liven up the space. The past two years I have gone with a burnt orange color pallet when September rolls around. I love how it looks against the dark grey couch, and it always feels like such a welcomed change from my typical neutral and blue color pallet.

This year, my fall 'refresh' included a new area rug. I was growing tired of our old one -- primarily because it had become very dingy over the years. We spend a majority of our time in the living room, and with a toddler, endless snacks and a small dog, it was time to do something about the stained and tired 8' x 10' that was somehow making the room feel even darker than it already was!
